Hot Damn! Look at these birds.

So I’ve stumbled across Andrew Zuckerman’s work before (see his Wisdom and Creature project). And his work is best described as hyper-real. It manages to take his subjects and let you see them for every tiny detail, almost without bias. You see the flaws and perfection all at the same time, but it happens to be his new book (or newest to me) that  has me saying “Hot Damn”

The book is a things of beauty, stark white with nothing but their subjects, sometimes just part of them showing up in a corner of a page. Everything from layout of the pages to the typography works if conjunction with the photography, beautifully simple, pairing things down to the barest of elements so that the viewer can focus there attention singly at what is in front of them.

The website functions in the same way. Minimal, stark and quiet, letting the photography stand out in unexpected ways, letting you navigate it intuitively, and at no point drawing any more attention to itself than whats needed.
